THE INSECTIFIX
40" x 42"
Metal, Fluorescent Bulbs, Plexiglass
1998

The Insectifix is the result of combining the sacred icon of the crucifix with the profane reality of an insect stuck to a "bug zapper". While this idea may seem blasphemous to certain religious groups, it's intent is not to be offensive or represent a worshipped deity. Instead, the Insectifix represents the destruction of all living things which man deems insignificant, as well as the general tribulations of Mother Nature. Such subjects are major themes in the artist's work.
