///LIFE OF A PAINTING

1. When I paint there is no preconceived idea behind what I am doing. I just start to paint and allow my subconscious or present experiences to influence me.

2. Reinforcing the first layer.

3. My paintings never look anything like they did from the start. Here,I saw a geometric form in the first layer and brought it out in the second. I gave this form it's own identity by changing the color scheme entirely.

4. Taking the new found form and giving it organic quality and movement.

5. I felt that the finished and vibrant form in the last layer was not aesthetically pleasing. I then decided to push the organic, positive form, back to a negative geometric space.

6. Birth from destruction.

7. Bringing back the same positive form but from a different perspective and limiting my color palette.

8. Breaking down the form.

9. Giving the form movement by adding detail.

10. Adding even more detail.

11. Next, I decided to blend in more color for a softer appearance.

12. Again, pushing the positive into the negative.

13. Finally, deciding on keeping the negative space as the subject matter, I deepened the center, brought out the edges, and turned the canvas horizontally to complete the process.

When I paint, it's about negative versus positive, geometric versus organic; It's the part of a painting that the viewer dose not have a chance to see. All my paintings go through this process, this experience, this evolution, which in my opinion gives them a type of life and inanimate soul.
